Why I Finally Decided to Start a Blog

So, I’ve considered doing this for a really long time, but kept debating with myself over and over and never really got around to it. I wasn’t really sure that I had anything that revolutionary to add to all of the billions of things being written all over the internet, nor was I confident enough to try and see if I did, so I just kept putting it off. But I eventually came to realize that one of the things that convicted me most about what I read from others was simply their own testimony and experiences. I’ve always been told that your testimony is the one thing no one can refute, so why not share it? So I decided exactly that… why not? It can’t hurt to share my heart and what I’ve experienced, and it may just be exactly what someone else needs to hear.
So all that said, what I’ve had on my heart to share is something that is really important to my family (and is admittedly way over discussed and analyzed on the internet) which is living a more natural, healthy life. So, daunting as it may be, I want to start this blog in order to share my humble experiences about moving toward a more natural life in the simplest, most sensible and most economical ways we could.

There are also a few things that I am going to inevitably have to include on this blog, so I want to give full disclosure 🙂

1) My faith. I don’t intend for my faith in God (which is undoubtedly the most important thing in my life) to be the primary focus of this blog, but I can promise that I won’t be able to separate my belief in God from the things I write. They are irrevocably intertwined, and so to me healthy living and Jesus Christ go hand in hand. But my goal is not to be that person that tries to shove God down your throat by saying he commanded us to live in a healthy way, but to share how in my own experience, living a healthy life has made the validity of His word even more evident! All that to say, I will probably write a blog here and there including Biblical aspects to why I do what I do, so feel free to read those if you want to 🙂

2) Pictures. This family LOVES photography so I simply can’t begin to blog without including pictures in nearly everything I write!

3) Craig and Ezra. Get used to those names if you plan to read this blog, because they’re currently the two most important people in my life. My husband and baby boy are two of my biggest inspirations for wanting to live naturally, and all of this has been taken to an even deeper level since the day we found out we were expecting this sweet little man!

So, where to begin!? I said I wanted to focus mainly on my humble opinion based on my testimony, so I’ll try to give a condensed version of it to begin with 🙂

I grew up with a wonderful mother who tried her best to feed us healthy foods, keep us away from some of the most well known harmful chemicals, products and ingredients, and tried to teach us why they weren’t good for us. In my younger years my family didn’t really worry much about it at all and we typically ate fruit loops and toaster strudels every morning for breakfast, but then as my mom began to research, we slowly worked our way from there. Fast forward to a little before Craig and I got married. We were definitely not super health conscious or anything along those lines when he proposed, but we began working out consistently together, trying to eat healthier, and found ourselves feeling so much better than we ever had before. After our wedding, we were not only newlyweds but also in college, so we gained the freshman 15 and the typical newlywed weight (we try not to look at the pictures from that point in our life too much… :O  ) We were happy and in love and ate pretty much whatever we wanted (even though we told ourselves that buying the “whole wheat” boxed muffin mix was SO much better for us than the plain ones). Fast forward again, a few years later I was having skin and hormone problems, and Craig and I both just basically felt pretty blah about our health, so my mom encouraged me to look at my diet. So I began to research as much as possible and search for answers, and the truth kind of shocked us both! We couldn’t understand how we had been so blind to how much what we eat, what we put on our skin, and what we use in our homes can effect our health. Once we found out a few years later that we were expecting our sweet baby boy, my desire to live a healthy life increased exponentially! Not only was I doing this for Craig and myself, but for this new precious life that we were in charge of raising and feeding, and for the next 9 months (plus months of breastfeeding) he would be living purely off of the things I put in and on my body. So here we are today. I still have so SO much to learn, but I know that I wish someone had told me all of this a long time ago, so I just want to share what we’ve learned and how it has helped us!

Our family 🙂

We haven’t had an insane transformation or instantaneous life altering experience per se, but our lives and perspectives have definitely been altered dramatically since this process began. It’s been wonderfully eye opening and we’ve discovered that once you know the truth of how things affect your body, there’s really no going back!

If you’re still reading, thank you for sticking with me! I will try to not always be this wordy, but I wanted to share the basis for why I’m finally deciding to do this. I can’t wait to share what we’ve learned and hopefully open up someone else’s eyes as well 🙂

I love this ❤ I recently decided to start a pescatarian diet. Eating healthy is pretty simple in the world we live in minus fast food. Working at a fast food restaraunt it’s next to impossible to avoid it. So I told myself that if I cut out meat, ( which I’ve wanted to do for a long time) I could maybe have enough self control to avoid them. It’s working so far and I’m excited to continue reading your blog!!!
